What if?

.
What if?

Sometimes a lot can be said in just a few words.

What if?

Sometimes it is a good idea to really think about those few words.

What if?

Those few words are –

What if?

Set your mind for achievement

.

The name of my company is – Mind and Achievement – so what do I mean by the word Mind? I say that “when you have your mind set correctly, the achievement will follow”. If your mind is set upon negative thoughts like; fear, worry, doubt, internal conflict and contradictions then the achievement that you claim to seek will be elusive or none existent.

To achieve all that you seek, your mind must be positive and calm. Be sure in your mind of what it is that you are seeking. See it in your mind’s eye in every detail. Believe and expect that you will achieve all that you set out to achieve. Never allow any thoughts that contradict this belief to remain in your mind. The average day will produce all kinds of distractions and real challenges to deal with, but after sorting these out you must have methods to return the things that you seek to a dominant position in your mind or they will ultimately become lost to you, due to the daily turmoil of life. That is why, affirmations, visual prompts around you and visualising in your mind, the thing that you are seeking most, is so very important.

Act as if you cannot fail by forming a belief and desire so strong that nothing can shake it. That is how to correctly set your mind.

What really is success and achievement?

.

Have you ever really thought through the question of “what really is success and achievement?”

Too many think that success is about money – or to own certain worldly goods. You could measure it that way and many do! But that is a very superficial measure of success.

Money and the worldly goods that go with it have always been a measure of financial wealth and there is nothing wrong with that, when the wealth comes from honest means. But let’s not lose sight of the fact that there are many different forms of wealth.

• If you have a skill, then that skill is a form of personal wealth.
• If you can communicate with others in your speech or written word or any other way that you interact with others, at all times in a kind, respectful, courteous way, then that too is a wealth. People that treat others with contempt and rudeness are poor in spirit; they lack this wealth.
• To have a richly fulfilling family life, is also a wealth.
• To be happy at your chosen field of employment is a wealth.
• To have a rewarding hobby or interest is a wealth.

In fact when you think about it, there really are all kinds of wealth around each of us already, if we would only see it that way. If a person were to write down a list of the wealth around them that they take for granted, then they would be surprised by the length of that list. Why not write that list?

Real success is to choose to do something, be it – large or small – easy or hard. Then to see it through to the end until you see it achieved in full.

Earle Nightingale descried it this way – “Success is the realisation of a worthy ideal” What that means is, anything that we choose to do deliberately, choose to do and make a real purpose out of doing.

Choose to do something, then do it well by repetition of doing the thing you love and improving at it by practice, that is success. You become a hard act to follow as you become skilled and proficient at the pursuit of your own choosing. When you see it through to the end ultimately you will have reached achievement.

The mind is like a garden

.

The mind. We all have a mind, it is ours for life and we could not manage without it, but like so many things in life we take it for granted. You will sometimes hear it said that “the mind is like a muscle” and in that case, just like any muscle, it can be made stronger with regular exercise.
What else is true of the mind? I have studied success and achievement at length, seen and researched many quotes. Some well known quotes can be traced back through history, many different people have said the same thing or words to the same effect. When something is true of the human condition it will find its way into quotes that endure. One such quote is that “The mind is like a garden” – sometimes it is compared to a field instead of a garden.

The mind is like a garden.
The gardener can decide which seeds are to be planted. The ground is prepared and the seeds are planted. The gardener will care for the planted seeds, watering them and keeping the weeds at bay. Eventually the seeds will sprout up and produce after their kind. Flower seeds will produce flowers; corn seeds will produce corn, carrots seeds will produce carrots and so on, you could go through a never ending list, but one thing is true, what you plant – you will get.

Plant a tree and you will get a tree. It can be no other way.

The mind is like a garden and it works in the same way as the garden, but the seeds of the mind are our own thoughts. Just like the garden, our thoughts will produce in accordance with the type and variety planted and allowed to remain long enough to grow in the mind into maturity.
Plant a thought and reap a result in life in accordance with it.

We must be in control of our thoughts and keep them focused only on the things that we truly want. The weeds of the mind must not be allowed to gain roots.

Amazing Goals

.
“If you set goals and go after them with all the determination you can muster, your gift will take you places that will amaze you”.
_ Les Brown

I do not do failure

.
You will hear some people say “I do not do failure” and if you look at these people, no matter how challenging circumstances become for them, they work their way to the top.

It is a good idea to use “I do not do failure” as an affirmation. Then act as if you can not fail; then watch your results improve.

Goals will shape your life

.

“Life can be pushed by goals, just as surely as it can be pushed by drives.”
Viktor Frankl

Goal setting October 2011

.
Here we are at the start of October, another new month. At the start of each month I encourage my thousands of readers to set and pursue a new goal or to carry on in the pursuit of an ongoing goal. So after reviewing your recent progress, it is now time to look ahead with renewed energy. Know clearly in your mind what you want and have a strong clear mental picture of your goal. Regularly visit this mental image as often as you can, never doubt in that goal, instead calmly expect it. Do that for the next 31 days of this month, take action at the right time and never delay. You may well be surprised by all that you could achieve in this month.

Do not live a life of watching others win. Take your dreams and turn them into goals, take those goals and attract them to you, then you can live your dreams.

September Goal setting review

.

I started this month in the usual way on these blog pages, by encouraging my readers to set a goal or to reset an existing goal. Now at the end of September it is time to review this month’s progress. To review your goals is a vital part of reaching them. Depending on the type of goal you have set, a daily, weekly, monthly or quarterly review of progress is needed. If no progress has been made, do not beat yourself up about it; acknowledge that fact and think about the best thing to do next that will move you closer to your goal. If you reached your goal or made some progress towards it, no matter how small, be sure to be thankful for it and to savour it.

As a person works towards their chosen goal it should be remembered that it is not a case of winning versus losing. It is more a case of results. These results can be learnt from; results can be improved upon by repetition, and trial and error until you get the desired result that you are seeking.

It is never over until you say that it is over. Thomas Edison famously needed 10,000 attempts to create the world’s first usable light bulb. Think about how many people would be prepared to go the distance like that without giving up? That is why he achieved something so out of the ordinary, with persistence you can also achieve results out of the ordinary too and it starts off from setting a goal.

So review your progress this month, continue if you need to or if all has gone well for you this month, then it is time to think about setting another new goal. Good luck.

Use your time well
